The Centre houses the working papers of some distinguished historians of British art and architecture, including Dr Robert Raines' papers on foreign artists working in England in the eighteenth century.

We also have an extensive archive relating to British and Irish visitors to Italy in the eighteenth century, compiled over thirty years by Sir Brinsley Ford, and edited by John Ingamells to create A Dictionary of British and Irish Travellers in Italy 1701-1800 (click here to download).  We are currently taking part in an exciting project which will produce an on-line resource of original and secondary material about the Grand Tour.
