Apollo Book of the Year Awarded to Tim Clayton
- 23 November 2023
Congratulations to Tim Clayton who has won Apollo magazine’s prestigious “Book of the Year” prize for James Gillray: A Revolution in Satire, published by the Paul Mellon Centre. We are delighted to have won the prize for the second year running.
Book of the Year judge Michael Prodger, who is a senior research fellow at the University of Buckingham and art critic for the New Statesman said of the book:
"Clayton has written a scholarly, revealing and frequently diverting study of an artist who made satires for every strata of his society, many of them indelible, and not one of them dull."
