The Paul Mellon Centre publication Nicholas Hilliard: Life of an Artist by Elizabeth Goldring has been named 'Book of the Year' in the Apollo Awards 2019. The awards, set up in 1992, are given by international art magazine Apollo and celebrate major achievements in the art and museum worlds.

A second Paul Mellon Centre publication Witnessing Slavery: Art and Travel in the Age of Abolition by Sarah Thomas, was also named in the shortlist of six publications vying for the prize.

Sarah Thomas, author of Witnessing Slavery, will be one of the authors speaking at our upcoming PMC Book Night on 11 December, for which tickets are still available.
