Applications Open for British Art in Motion 2025

  • 3 February 2025

Applications are now open for British Art in Motion, our undergraduate filmmaking programme.

This initiative invites students across the UK to experiment with the ways in which film can bring thought-provoking ideas about art and visual culture to life and will give them the tools to make a short film about an artwork of their choice.

Eight successful applicants will be provided with a fully funded trip to London this summer for a specialist filmmaking residency delivered by Learning on Screen. They will then be given a production fund of £500, as well as guidance and mentorship from experts, to make their film over the summer. Their final films will be screened at a central London cinema and there will be a £1,000 cash prize for the winning film and two other cash prizes for the runners-up.

Applicants are invited to submit a proposal for a short five- to seven-minute film about a piece of British art or architecture from any historic period.

The deadline for applications will close at 10am on 22 April 2025. More details on the programme and how to apply for it can be found on our website.
