In celebration of the 300th anniversary of Thomas Chippendale's birth, the National Trust have published a permanent online exhibition Chippendale Revealed.

Curated by Dr Megan Wheeler, Lead Cataloguer in the National Trust's Furniture Research team, alongside Wolf Burchard and the National Trust’s Furniture Curator, Christopher Rowell the online exhibition is showcase of the Trust's furniture research and Chippendale’s exquisite work at Nostell Priory, one of the best surviving collections of the furniture maker's pieces. This project is a result of a two week-long photographic shoot of the furniture in a studio setting which highlights details and features which are usually hidden from visitors to the house. Through this new photography fittings, escutcheons, marks, inscriptions and more are now viewable in minute detail.

Chippendale Revealed is one of the outcomes of the Paul Mellon Centre Curatorial Research Grant which the National Trust received to research and catalogue approximately 55,000 pieces of furniture in their collections. To find out more about this project please click here.
