New ECRN Co-Convenors Appointed

The Paul Mellon Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Stacey Clapperton and Dr Christine Slobogin as Co-Convenors of the Early Career Researchers Network (ECRN).

Stacey’s doctoral research, undertaken at the University of Glasgow, examined the methods and materials used by unofficial and official British war artists between 1914 and 1919. She has previously worked as an Art Researcher at HENI, and for the estate of Francis Bacon and HENI Talks. She is currently Assistant Curator at Watts Gallery – Artist’s Village.

Christine’s doctorate, awarded by Birkbeck, University of London, focused on Dickie Orpen’s surgical drawings and the visual culture of plastic surgery in Second World War Britain. From January 2022, she will be a Visiting Early Career Fellow at the John Rylands Research Institute at the University of Manchester. She also edits the newsletter of the Historians of British Art, an affiliate society of the College Art Association (CAA).

Stacey and Christine will build upon the excellent work of Dr Maddie Boden and Dr Shijia Yu, who complete their tenure as Co-Convenors of the ECRN this month.
