- 1 September 2017
Our Curatorial Research Grants are awarded to institutions, galleries or museums to help towards the costs of appointing a Research Curator to undertake research for a specific project such as an exhibition or installation, a cataloguing project or an online exhibition.
The Paul Mellon Centre is keen to support not just the big international institutions but also the smaller projects being undertaken by regional museums and galleries. Over the past few years the Centre has helped support exhibitions such as Winifred Knights 1899-1947 at Dulwich Picture Gallery and Love Bites: Caricatures by James Gillray at the Ashmolean Museum. The most recent CRG supported exhibition is Basic Instincts at The Foundling Museum which will be on from 19 September 2017 - 7 January 2018.
The Curatorial Research Grant has recently been adapted to acknowledge that research projects are often not undertaken with a set timetable. Instead of structuring the funding by year, the Grant is now offered with a view to funding the entire project at once, this will hopefully allow recipients more freedom to budget, timetable and work on the projects without financial worry.
