Introducing the PMC Research Collections Fellowship
- 25 October 2019
The Paul Mellon Centre is excited to announce a new fellowship to coincide with the Centre’s fiftieth anniversary, which is being celebrated in 2020.
The Paul Mellon Centre Research Collections Fellowship, an award of £10,000, has been conceived to facilitate research into the development of art history as a discipline in the UK in the twentieth century. The fellowship will focus on the Centre’s archive and library collections, which are rich in materials relevant to this topic: they reveal much about the networks of art historians who shaped the field and also provide plentiful information on how they conducted their research and writing.
The fellowship will cover the period July 2020–June 2021 and the successful fellow is expected to spend as a minimum the equivalent of six weeks at the Centre carrying out detailed research using the Centre’s archive and library collections. There is no requirement for the fellow to give up any existing job or research work: this fellowship is designed to sit alongside existing commitments.
Applications for the fellowship will open alongside the spring 2020 fellowships, on Monday 25 November 2019 and close on 31 January 2020.
