Post-doctoral Research Associate vacancy at the National Portrait Gallery

The National Portrait Gallery are seeking a Post-doctoral Research Associate to work on the ‘Patrons and Picturemakers: 1485-1625' project.

The Paul Mellon Centre and Yale Center for British Art are working in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery to develop this large-scale project with the ambition to transform understanding of British artistic practice and to open up new avenues of research through the creation of a digitally accessible dataset of images with supporting metadata.

The ‘Patrons and Picturemakers: 1485-1625' project builds on the long-standing partnership between the three institutions and the discoveries of the Gallery’s ‘Making Art in Tudor Britain’ project and the YCBA’s ‘Reformation to Restoration’ project. The Research Associate will be based primarily at the Gallery and Paul Mellon Centre in London, but will work under the supervision of the two lead investigators and will be expected to travel to the United States for extended periods during the project.
