Spring 2020 round of funding opportunities now open

The spring 2020 round of Paul Mellon Centre funding opportunities is now open for applications!

In this round of awards, the following categories are available:

  • Senior Fellowships
    Awards of £40,000 to support individuals for nine months and allow completion a manuscript or book for publication or to undertake a sustained period of research towards a major project.

  • Mid-Career Fellowships
    Awards of £15,000 to support individuals for four months to allow time to devote to research for an article, book, exhibition or catalogue.

  • Postdoctoral Fellowships
    Awards of £10,000 to support individuals who have had their doctoral theses successfully examined within the three years prior to January 2020 and to allow six months to continue doctoral research or start a new research project that has arisen out of a successfully submitted doctoral dissertation.

  • Junior Fellowships
    Awards of £7,500 to support individuals advanced in their doctoral research requiring an extended period of archival or library research in the United Kingdom.

  • Terra-PMC Fellowship
    An award of £9,500 to support an individual undertaking research on an aspect of British-American artistic exchange.

  • PMC Research Collections Fellowship *new for 2020*
    An award of £10,000 to enable an individual to research the development of art history as a discipline using the Paul Mellon Centre’s archive and library collections.

  • Rome Fellowship *redesigned for 2020*
    An honorarium of £3,000 and full board at the British School at Rome for three months to allow an individual dedicated time to research on a British-Italian art-historical topic.

  • Research Support Grants
    Awards of up to £2,000 to support individuals with the expenses incurred in visiting collections, libraries, archives or historic sites for research purposes.

  • Event Support Grants
    Awards of up to £3,000 to enable institutions, museums or galleries to host events such as lectures, conferences, workshops or seminars.
