Summer events programme now online

In response to the coronavirus pandemic and taking into account that the Paul Mellon Centre building is closed to the public until further notice, the specially programmed summer events calendar is a combination of live virtual seminars, pre-recorded film lectures, and British Art Talks, a new podcast series.

British Art Talks
A new audio series which features new research and aims to enhance and expand knowledge of British art and architecture. The podcasts will be released weekly, starting with 'William Etty and the Classical Body', a discussion between classicist Mary Beard and art historian Cora Gilroy-Ware, author of The Classical Body in Romantic Britain, which is published by the Paul Mellon Centre and available now.

Live Virtual Seminars
Three seminars will be taking place via Zoom. These events will include a half-hour long talk to be given by a speaker followed by a virtual Q&A. Full information on how to watch and partake in these seminars can be found on the individual event descriptions.

Public Lecture Course
This one-off summer Public Lecture Course will focus on seminal works of art from eighteenth-century Britain with six 30-minute lectures, delivered online via pre-recorded films. The lectures will offer detailed readings of these works’ contents, contexts and impact.
