The PMC and Bloomsbury Festival

Bloomsbury Festival is a five-day programme of arts, science, literature and performance which takes place each year in October. This year the theme of the Festival is Activists and Architects of Change and the Paul Mellon Centre have been invited to contribute to the Festival's busy programme and will be putting on a special lecture which also helps to mark the centenary of The Representation of the People Act 1918.

The Art of Protest: Suffrage and the Summer Exhibition, given by Sarah Victoria Turner, will explore how the Suffrage movement used images and art to promote their cause. It will look at women artists who contribute to the visual and material cultures of the Suffragettes, from banners, pin badges and magazine illustration, to large-scale mural decorations, paintings and sculpture.
