The Digital Lead oversees the Centre’s digital initiatives including marketing and publications, expanding online resources for the study of British art.
The digital has an ever-growing impact on all areas of work at the Centre, and as such we continue to invest in a robust digital infrastructure in order to establish ourselves as a vibrant hub for art-historical research, and to promote our activities, collections and publications to an international scholarly community.
Tom identifies and initiates projects that will support the Centre’s strategic objective to embrace the use of technology in the study of cultural heritage materials: He leads the Centre’s digital audience engagement strategy, manages procurement of digital services, and coordinates the work of external designers, developers and partner agencies. He oversees the digitisation of designated selections of the Centre’s research collections, including its Photographic Archive, and is a member of the editorial team that produces the online journal British Art Studies.
Prior to beginning his role at the Centre, Tom had worked for the J. Paul Getty Trust, the Getty Research Institute, the Courtauld Institute of Art, and New Contemporaries.
Tom holds both a BA and MA in the History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. He is certified as a Project Manager by the Association for Project Management (PMQ: IPMA Level D, SCQF Level 7), and is an active member of the PHAROS International Consortium of Photo Archives and the CIDOC International Committee for Documentation.
