Daphne Haldin

4 boxes. This material has been catalogued. Please search the archive catalogue for full details (Ref DLH).

The archive consists of material relating to Haldin's research project on European female artists born before 1850. She was compiling this research into a dictionary of women artists, with at least 1,454 entries scheduled for inclusion, but did not manage to get it published, and it is not certain she completed the research phase. This collection includes her research notes on individual artists, project planning notes and correspondence, images and her working bibliographies and reference lists.

Daphne Haldin (1899–1973) was an amateur art historian from London. Other than an article on medieval brasses published in the Connoisseur, her dictionary of women artists is the only known research project in which she was involved.
