There are notes, correspondence, unpublished texts and drafts and photographs. The collection also includes an earlier gift of a large set of photographic files of Gainsborough's landscapes, portraits and prints and a smaller set on Gainsborough Dupont (1754-1797). This relates to Hayes' doctoral thesis work and subsequent lifelong interest and writings on Gainsborough.
