About Our Collections
To make it easier to identify all the material we hold across our different Archives & Library collections, we have created a set of guides covering some of the most frequently researched subjects. At present, these focus exclusively on individual artists but we plan to expand our provision in this area in the future.
The Artist Guides focus on individuals where our holdings are particularly significant. They reflect a historical picture of British Art; revealing the artists who were commonly studied in the past or considered part of the canon and about whom our collections necessarily contain a great deal of information. We recognise that our collections do not reflect the diverse nature of the field today and we are working to remedy this going forward. The library has already extended its collection policy accordingly; the archive is happy to hear from any individual or institution that has material they would like to offer.
The Artist Guides summarise the archives and library collections that contain relevant information about each artist and contain links to the appropriate catalogue entries and box lists.
