Library Collections

The library collections cover British painting, sculpture, drawing, prints, decorative arts, architecture and garden history from the medieval period to the present day. The collections on British artists and architects, the British and Irish country house and the eighteenth-century Grand Tour are particularly strong.

Exhibition Catalogues

The Library contains a collection of 6000 exhibition catalogues that includes catalogues from exhibitions around the British Isles as well as overseas.

There is a comprehensive collection of Yale Center for British Art exhibition catalogues as well as others from Yale and the Paul Mellon Collection.

There are photocopies of eighteenth-century and nineteenth-century exhibition catalogues from exhibiting societies around the British Isles.

Materials relating to the Royal Academy of Arts, London, number 500 items, including exhibition catalogues, directories and Academy notes and Royal Academy illustrated.
