Library Collections

The library collections cover British painting, sculpture, drawing, prints, decorative arts, architecture and garden history from the medieval period to the present day. The collections on British artists and architects, the British and Irish country house and the eighteenth-century Grand Tour are particularly strong.

Library Special Collections

The Library has a number of Special Collections. These are identified on the Library catalogue and comprise:

  • Books with the following Class marks: 043, 094, Ford, Leicester Galleries, Oppé
  • JOURNALS - Rare books
  • William Roberts / Sir Ellis Waterhouse auction catalogues

These items:

  • Must be booked 48 hours in advance
  • May not be photocopied or scanned but may be photographed. Please note that Class 043 materials may not be photocopied, scanned or photographed.
  • Must be supervised and may not be removed from the Public Study Room
  • May not be consulted between 13.00 and 14.00
  • Are subject to our Library Special Collections Handling Guidelines
