We provide grants and fellowships from £2,000 to £60,000 to support research investigating British art or architectural history; available to individuals at different stages of their careers.
Junior Fellowships
Awards of £8,000 to assist PhD students in visiting the UK for three months.
Postdoctoral Fellowships
Awards of £15,000 for six months to support an individual, who has recently completed their PhD.
Mid-Career Fellowships
Awards of £18,000 for four months to support an individual at mid-career level.
Senior Fellowships
Awards of £60,000 for twelve months to support an individual at a senior level.
Awarded in the spring round of funding, our New Narratives scheme is designed to increase the diversity of perspectives among individuals in the field of British art history.
MA/MPhil Studentship
An award of £32,000 to support the fees and living costs of an individual undertaking an MA or MPhil.
Doctoral Scholarship
An award of £32,000 per year for three years to support the fees and living costs of an individual undertaking a PhD.
Early Career Fellowship
An award of £35,000 per year for two years to support an individual undertaking a major research project.

We offer small grants twice a year to assist with research trips due to take place in the UK and abroad. In the autumn we also award a small travel grant on behalf of the Andrew Wyld Fund. Our Author Grants help support individuals working on articles and publications.

Awards of up to £1,000 to support the image costs incurred by authors for short written works, such as articles. *Applications now open*

Awards of up to £6,000 to support the author costs associated with a publication. *Applications now open*
The Rome Fellowship, awarded in the spring round of funding, offers a three-month, full board stay at the British School at Rome for individual research.
