Catherine Roach
Catherine Roach attended Yale in London in the spring of 2000. The experience of visiting museums and galleries during that semester helped her find her vocation as an art historian. She is now an Assistant Professor of Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University, specializing in British art. Her first book, Pictures-within-Pictures in Nineteenth-Century Britain, will be published by Routledge in June 2016. In 2010 she curated an exhibition at the Yale Center for British Art, "Seeing Double: Portraits, Copies, and Exhibitions in 1820s London." She is currently at work on a book on the British Institution, an innovative nineteenth-century exhibition society. She met her future husband, Josh Chafetz, while at Yale-in-London; they were married in 2007. Among the bridesmaids were two friends from Yale in London, Jennifer Corvo (née Arthur) and Katherine Barth (née Baker).
