A seminar discussion about the photographer John Deakin (1912-1972) based around a series of short films produced for the Paul Mellon Centre's online journal British Art Studies by Jonathan Law. The final two films in this series will be premiered at the event.
Speakers will include Daniella Zalcman (Photographer), James Boaden (University of York), Paul Rousseau (Curator of The John Deakin Archive), Richard Hornsey (University of Nottingham), and Katharina Guenther (Art Historian).
Sarah Turner, James Boaden and Paul Rousseau will open the dicussion by talking about the genesis of these films and the idea behind the format. The discussion will then be opened out to a selected panel to respond to the project.
