- 7 April 2025
- 6:00 – 8:00 pm
- This event is part of Gender and Cloth 2025, the Paul Mellon Centre's young people's workshops convened by Gabe Beckhurst and Jess Bailey.
- Rabbits Road Press
Join us for this workshop using fabric to create designs for a two-colour Risograph print led by Sofia Niazi of Rabbits Road Press and the collaborative publishing practice One of my Kind (OOMK). Cloth carries the legacies of touch and wear – garments are passed down through generations and between friends, sometimes reaching the wearers in mysterious ways. This workshop will explore how textiles “speak” through patterns, motifs and shapes, while reflecting on cloth as a communicator of identity and belonging. You are encouraged to bring a garment or piece of fabric of personal significance to the workshop and as a group we will experiment with translating the material memory of cloth to print and generate new textures on paper through the Risograph process.
This events programme is for young people aged 18–24 years old. While these workshops are intended for this age group, we are keen to be inclusive, and if you feel it would be particularly beneficial for you to attend, please contact our Learning Programme Manager, Rachel Prosser at [email protected].
All making supplies are provided free of charge and workshops are in-person only. All workshops are wheelchair accessible.
Spaces at the workshops are limited to create intimate discussion and instruction during hands-on sessions.
