250 years of Contemporary Art: Curating The Great Spectacle

  • 5 July 2018
  • 12:30 – 2:00 pm

A lunchtime talk by Mark Hallett

Mark Hallett is Director of Studies at the Paul Mellon Centre and one of the curators of the Royal Academy exhibition, The Great Spectacle: 250 Years of the Summer Exhibition (June-August 2018). In this lecture, he will discuss the ways in which he and his co-curator Sarah Turner approached this project, and introduce some of the most fascinating aspects of the summer exhibition’s long and varied history.

This is a free event and includes a sandwich lunch.

This event is part of Bedford Square Festival 4 July - 7 July 2018

The aim of the Bedford Square Festival was to promote the culture based around a London Square, sharing this with our neighbours in Bloomsbury and beyond. We wanted to open the doors of the grand facades of the buildings in the Square and celebrate the culture that we pride ourselves on - art, literature, architecture, history, education, and more!
