An evening of three short papers on artistic exchanges between Britain and continental Europe, and art that responds to exchange and relations between Britain and Europe. Taking contemporary politics as a cue and adopting a broad historical perspective, the evening will be an opportunity for scholars working in this area, or just interested, to meet and hear about each other’s work in an informal and jovial setting.

Papers by:

Dr Lloyd de Beer (British Museum): "English Medieval Sculpture and the Continent"

Dr Giulia Weston (The Courtauld Institute of Art): "The British reception of Salvator Rosa"

Dr Edwin Coomasaru (Courtauld Institute of Art): "Gendering Brexit’s Magical Thinking: Rita Duffy’s Soften the Border (2017)"

As ever there will be snacks and drinks, and there will be an opportunity to continue the discussion in the pub.

Please note: Unofrtuantely, Dr Camilla Pietrabissa (Courtauld Institute of Art) can no longer participate.
