Gainsborough’s Family Album (National Portrait Gallery, 22 November 2018–3 February 2019) is a major exhibition of eighteenth-century British portraiture. Featuring more than fifty works from public and private collections around the world, the show offers a unique insight into Thomas Gainsborough’s private life and motivations. Led by curator Dr. Lucy Peltz, this tour will explore the making of the exhibition, discussing the curatorial processes involved in staging a show of British art on this scale. Taking place outside the gallery’s public opening hours, the tour will also provide an opportunity to see the exhibition without the crowds.
The event is free to attend for DRN members but registration is required.
