Fellows Lunch: Curator Series event by Trish Scott, Research Curator at Turner Contemporary.
Join Trish Scott to find out about the genesis of Journeys with The Waste Land; Turner Contemporary's Spring 2018 exhibition, which examines resonances between T.S. Eliot’s poem The Waste Land and the visual arts, developed through a pioneering curatorial model. Presenting over 60 artists, and almost 100 objects, plus an extended offsite programme of 40 events, the exhibition explores how art can precipitate reflection on Eliot's seminal poem with its shifting flow of voices, references, characters and places. Curated in partnership with a diverse group of local residents over a three year period, the exhibition is the result of many months the group have spent discussing personal connections between art, poetry and life.
In this talk Trish Scott will outline the curatorial method underpinning the exhibition, and the impact of working in this way on the content, presentation and reception of the exhibition.
The Fellows Lunch: Curator Series is a set of four free lunchtime research talks given by recipients of Paul Mellon Centre Curator Research Grants. All are welcome but please book a ticket in advance.
About the speaker

Trish Scott has worked as Research Curator at Turner Contemporary since 2015 supported by a Curatorial Research Grant from the Paul Mellon Centre. Scott has a PhD from Chelsea College of Art focused on authorship, participation and archives. Her research is underpinned by projects which test, throughpractice, how to include and hold multiple voices within different artistic frames.
