  • A series of talks organised by Jeremy Deller with the Paul Mellon Centre

A series of four talks organised in collaboration with the artist Jeremy Deller.

Jeremy Deller has invited artists, designers, musicians and writers to join him to explore the “look of music” through presentations, conversation and discussion across four talks in January 2018. The idea for this series was inspired by Tom Crow’s Mellon Lectures Searching for the Young Soul Rebels: Style, Music, and Art in London, 1956–1969 which drew on the creative relationships between art and music.

Jeremy Deller will open the series with a talk on Wednesday 10th January which will explore this topic in relation to his own work and which will also introduce the speakers he has invited to contribute to “The Look of Music” series.  The talks will be held at the Paul Mellon Centre and other venues in central London.

What does music look like? What are the interrelations between the sounds of popular music and the aesthetics and images they produce? In this series of four specially-commissioned talks, the artist Jeremy Deller has invited designers, musicians and writers to explore the look of music through presentations, discussion and conversation. Talks will take place in different venues in central London and will all start at 6.30pm.
