Join us for private tour of this ground-breaking display of Nigel Henderson's collage work. Focussing on works made between the 1950s and 1970s and part of Tate's Spotlight programme, it takes a deep dive into Henderson's profound engagement with collage as a medium, a method and a mode of thought. Curators Mark Hallett and Rosie Ram have drawn objects from private and public collections, as well as the Henderson estate.
We will have the chance to hear how the exhibition was conceived and developed – a valuable opportunity for any DRN members wishing to learn about curatorial practice. For those working in the field, Henderson's part in the Independent Group and informal art networks of post-war London present exciting new ways of engaging with the period. A series of films by Jonathan Law, commissioned by the PMC and distributed digitally, also give the opportunity to consider the new media of art historical analysis.
The tour will be given before Tate Britain opens to the public. Attendance is limited.
